Ironically, nuclear weapons in the hands of the morally deficient is how the sane world looks at us

Priest, engineer and economist on desert island with a can of beans. Engineer tries blah blah fails, priest prays and fails, economist raises his hand and says I know I know: "First, assume a can opener."

Me too. I'm a slave to that superstition, always afraid I'm going to blow it

That's it's easier on Twitter, where you click and get a menu to send by email or other options, then another click and you have an open email with the link and just add address and message. Often also, Bsky won't let you send to anyone not on the app

On Bluesky, you can only copy the link, then you have to create an email, etc. And often, you cannot send a link to anyone who is not on the app. I do like that people without an account can read the replies. But I end up not sending things, and I'd think Bwky would want to encourage that

And make it easier to send good posts to friends and family. It's one of the reasons I'm still on Twitter, one of ways I most enjoy these platforms is sharing with others. What earthy reason is there for not making that as simple as on Twitter?

As are many social programs, subsidies for low-wage business models. Reportedly, Walmart hands new employees a sheet of information about medicaid, low income housing, etc

How do those MAGA cultists not die of boredom? Recycled outrage, over and over
October 25, 2025 at 4:39 AM
Kudos! A very special 15 minutes of fame

I've had that idea too. It's how mega billionaires avoid taxes. Wouldn't be a huge amount compared to the wealth, but worth doing
October 25, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Thank you. This one fills me with anguish too

I trust their word on where the money will go, but will add that I pay attention to the type of aid and organization, because some donations are US tax-deductible, which makes my $$ go further. I donate to both kinds of aid, humanitarian (deductible if a registered charity) and military.

Best one I read many years ago, "Merkin-Crested Yam"

Best Trump nickname ever (not mine):

Merkin-Crested Yam

He literally caved to China's explicit demand: No talks until the "reciprocal" tariff is dropped.
May 12, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Actually I think the evidence is to the contrary. If he'd had someone else taking his exams, he wouldn't have threatened Wharton to never disclose his academic performance
May 8, 2025 at 10:29 PM
Naw. Because one of the two major parties is terrified of that guy, because the majority of Rs who vote in primaries are gullible morons
May 8, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Exactly. The Art of the Trump Deal is to sell America for parts, to enrich himself and his cronies. Especially sweet if it includes sticking it to the middle and struggling classes.

I live in a blue state. My taxes have been bailing out welfare red states all my life
April 28, 2025 at 7:32 AM
Um. Doesn't Congress need to approve new spending? Just asking
April 28, 2025 at 7:27 AM
I'm anguished for Z. Often think of how close he came to caving to Trump's extortion attempt. I never see people talk about this, perhaps it's not well known. Z agreed to the demand that he go on CNN and announce an investigation into Biden. Only the whistleblower, just I time, derailed the plot.
April 27, 2025 at 2:36 AM
That is Trump. An out-and-out sociopath
April 27, 2025 at 2:33 AM
That one is a big gut punch for me too.

For all of them of course, for that matter. Were that a prison in the US, those sentences would violate the 8th Amendment as cruel and unusual punishment. Let alone, for men entirely innocent, or guilty of nonviolent crimes.
