I remember installing Wing Commander 3 onto a PC that post-dated it by 5 years or so and got a message saying my CD-ROM drive was responding faster than was possible.

I think so, some of the recent ones have intro VOs in English that sound machine generated.

Yep, I was really quite surprised. It’s about something, it’s smart, and it e have a trivial or trite resolution. Really liked it.

100%. I increasingly find I want to spend my “serious” painting time on 75mm figures or busts, and then doing quick & fun jobs on smaller models here and there.

I’m not mad keen on the minis but like you say, proxying is super easy. I also have a bunch of 3D printed furniture kicking around from a “build a Viking long house” school project my son did a few years ago. Including several pumpkins that the Vikings definitely had.

This is honestly the most appealing skirmish game I’ve ever seen. I maaaay be biased because those were some of my favourite films growing up. I might have to see if I can set up a game of that.
