39-time loser of People's Sexiest Man Alive Award | I take photos of sharks and help identify unique individuals | I can also be mildly amusing
Apollo-Orion is a male white shark who was first documented at Guadalupe over 15 years ago, when he was a sub-adult.

If I had to guess his size at the time, I would say he was around 2.5-3m (8-10') in length.

Arden Grace, a 15' (4.5m) great white shark, accompanied by her entourage of pilot fish.

While I've never had a shark bite my camera, one of Arden Grace's pilot fish did come over at one point and bite my housing.

Photos of the same individual great white shark taken more than 15 years apart at Isla de Guadalupe.

Jacques is one of two individual white sharks I saw on both my very first trip to Guadalupe as well as my last one, prior to the diving/travel ban at the island.

Sunlight illuminates the face of Baggers, a 4.25m (14') female great white shark, off the coast of Mexico's Isla de Guadalupe.

Baggers is one of over 450 unique individual white sharks who have been documented at the island since 2000 through the Guadalupe White Shark Photo ID project.

Deep Who?

While a certain other shark (who was only ever documented there in 1999 and 2013) gets a lot of accolades for being the largest great white shark at Guadalupe, Scarboard, at 5.5m in length, is one of the largest individuals who was regularly documented at the island.

Because every once in a while you need some Doug in your life.

Crazy Tryss, a sub-adult female white shark, from October 2018. This was an interesting trip due to on and visibility issues that were creating "cloudy" water issues at times. Thankfully, we would occasionally get some great viz in certain directions.

ChumChum, a sub-adult male great white shark, filmed off the coast of Isla de Guadalupe in 2015.

A distorted view of Isla de Guadalupe is visible through the water's surface above Luca Arnone, one of Guadalupe's male great white sharks.

On #SharkAwarenessDay, Doug would like for you to be aware that he sometimes eats too much.

Sharky greetings from my cubicle!

It's #SharkAwarenessDay, so here's Johnny to make sure you're aware of him.

Johnny was first identified at Guadalupe back in 2005 and was consistently documented there through 2018 (when this image was shot).

Introducing Eugenie! While this particular lady was first identified back in 2021, I don't think I've posted any photos of her since she was officially named.

She is presumably named after the late Dr. Eugenie Clark aka "The Shark Lady" who was a pioneer in shark.research.

A peek into the first gill slit of Gianna, a 16' (4.9m) white shark.

As water passes through the gills, O2 is absorbed and passed to the shark's deoxygenated blood which is then circulated throughout the shark's body. CO2 is also passed out from the blood during the process.

One of Guadalupe's O.G. sharks, Bite Face. He was also one of the most consistently seen individuals over the years when Guadalupe was still accessible to divers.

This previously unreleased shot of Bite Face is from 2012.
