My paper "Social media for fisheries science and management professionals: How to use Bluesky and Instagram, and why you should" is formally published in an issue.

It's a how-to guide to using Bluesky, the first ever published in the scientific literature! 🧪🦑🌎🐟

I began working on Spot A Shark USA (based on the 2006 Australian program Spot A Shark) in 2018, where I first met my future major advisor Dr. Erin Burge. Later, I was able to integrate both SharkCam (via explore.org) #sandtiger footage into #SpotASharkUSA to form the basis of my master's research.

For some more background info, I have multiple seasons of field #sharkresearch under my belt courtesy of the Coastal Carolina University shark project (run by Dr. Dan Abel, who served on my thesis committee). What wonderful diversity in Winyah Bay, SC!

I'm Ara, I attended my first-ever #JMIH2025 where I presented my M.S. research via poster in Carcharias taurus site fidelity, seasonality, and fish associates in NC. 🦈
My B.S. in Ecology is from App State (2015). I worked as an aquarist and researcher for Spot A Shark USA before my M.S. from CCU.
