There is one little trick that help reading small icon shapes. You add outer glow to the icon layer but with color on normal blending mode. I use it all the time on my icons and text

Some deckbuilders are not roguelikes, you know. Some just use cards for combat without the classic Slay the Spire formula. And ours is just like that.
