It's good to be in Galle (and back on the island ❤️)! I'm excited about participating in the 2025 Galle Literary Festival, where I will be on three panels about diversity, lyricism and working across genres and mediums.

The Indian Ocean tsunami of exactly 20 years ago plays a significant role in my graphic novel #IncantationsOverWater. It lingers profoundly in the consciousness of my mermaid narrator, Ila. Shared to honour the deceased & those who lost them, those who survived & - as ever - in reverence of Nature.

I am honoured to be a recipient of a 2024 Devi Award, which celebrates women in India for dynamism and innovation across different fields. While individual works of mine have received recognitions in the past, this is the first time I've received an accolade for my body of work and its impact. 🙏

*Required reading* for all writers and readers. There is so much insight shared in these essays into the lived experiences of contemporary writers today. My favourite, one I'm sure to revisit, was Amitava Kumar's piece on authenticity.
