Was there a University of Auckland connection between yourself and Ross and Robert? Did the community there influence your introduction to the language?

ggplot2 was developed before the pipe was ‘discovered’. The original ggplot actually did use function composition instead of addition so if the timing had been different, we’d all be using the original ggplot (except with the pipe). Hadley has said the pipe is probably preferable conceptually to ‘+’
