Quite a few indie publishers for the graphic novel/comics industry provide affordable rates that might work for novels as well. I've never tried them; I used to work with them on crowdfunding projects and they're wonderful to work with. One example is Black Eye Books in Toronto.

My character's decent into melancholy... 😅

When you grow up with a narcissist who considers everything he says and thinks to be The Way Things Are, this all makes much more sense. They're wired differently, and it's terrifying. Even more so when they have zero consequences for their effects on other people.

My favourite rendition of this song is by Reuben and The Dark - gives some serious spine-tingles!
