Happy Friday! I'm in meetings with authors most of the day today, so the blackout is relatively easy on me. Tomorrow I'll shop small at one of our local bakeries (where I got my "I'm with the Banned" book pin by Dissent Pins) to support people who support good things. :)

Today a girl in Austria woke to a St. Nicholas gift of 13 TO LIFE, written in English by an American, with a cover designed in Ukraine, the book printed in Poland, and I feel GIDDY about all that. And I hope with all my heart that she enjoys the story and has a most wonderful holiday! ❤

When 2 girls couldn't reach powerful WWII enemies, they crafted a honey trap for others, leading too-willing Nazi soldiers into nearby woods with the promise of some "action." But the action they found guaranteed the soldiers never returned. THAT is resistance, or so my thesis research taught me.

When a Ukrainian book cover design company continues making art even as their country is under siege--THAT is resistance. Making art under duress is like a big "thumb in the eye" to an oppressor. Or so my thesis research taught me. THAT is one reason they make MY book covers.

When the Maquis couldn't get to the leader of their enemy directly, they disrupted supply chains his people depended on. THAT was resistance. Or so my thesis research taught me. Historically resistance & rebellion occur in myriad forms, suited to the myriad of people involved.
