I was standing on line by the register in the grocery store when I saw the election results. I told the cashier Mamdani won. She goes, “This guy?” and plucked a campaign flyer that someone had dropped off earlier

I told someone walking onto the QB bridge bike path that the pedestrian path is now on the other side. They said, “There was a dog on the other side. I got afraid.”
A No Pedestrians sign here might help. That little WalkNYC sticker, probably not helping

Here’s how replacing the markings on the #QueensboroBridge is going. The pedestrian markings are so far mostly removed and the two-way bike lane on one side is partly faded but still there. And there are still pedestrians walking… www.tiktok.com/t/ZTMf3J1pV/
Those markings have to go…#queensborobridge

Shutting down streets for recreation was a thing back in the day. On July 27, 1938, thousands of people attended a PAL boxing match set up in the middle of the intersection of 31st Ave, Newtown Road and 43rd Street (the “Six Corners”) in Astoria. This happened at least one more time, in 1957

I want to know about the thinking that went into this retro, neo art deco apartment building called Trylon Tower on Queens Blvd in Rego Park. It channels 1920s-30s Manhattan but not the ubiquitous 1920s Queens art deco, hence the $3k-$6k monthly rent

Is it me, or did this guy used to look more Jewish? This is the “We Are All Family” mural on 8th Street across from the Astoria Houses. I always thought the guy with the hat was supposed to be Jewish. Then it was repainted this summer. His hat and locks are gone and he looks more ambiguous

The way 31st Street is, pre-improvements, from the pov of cycling is pretty chaotic. It’s unclear where to ride (inside or outside columns) and tends to feel precarious either way. Cars coming in the inside, doors opening and random obstacles on the outside. The new plan seems organized and modern.

Haha @nycdot.bsky.social #visionzero … Can’t we just give the curve in the street to the bike lane?
