The ancestral BA.3 was much less immune evasive compared to BA.1 and BA.2, see our NEJM paper in 2022 www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/...

BA.2.87.1 is quite different from JN.1 and XBB.1.5 but more similar to their ancestral BA.2 in infectivity and neutralization escape. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...
