DC routinely clears homeless encampments around the city in one of two ways, which vary in the amount of notice given to residents: standard dispositions and immediate dispositions.

So far this fall, the city has conducted 20 standard clearings and 18 immediate dispositions.

Between Oct. 7 and Oct. 29, D.C.’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services (DMHHS) cleared seven encampments across the city.

DC Council wants to make its Flex program, a longer-term rent subsidy, permanent. While the program has been largely deemed a success, some advocates say there isn't enough data.

And DHS, the agency that administers the program, says there's not enough money.

After Trump's executive order to federalize the D.C. police force expired, House Republicans introduced 13 bills advancing the federal agenda to make D.C. "safe and beautiful."
