I’ve spent this week in hospital (the occasional reality of living with chronic illness). For the first time I’ve tried to get staff to gender me correctly and would like to share the most effective strategy I’ve come up with: getting my 7yo to decorate signs above my bed with rainbows 🌈

Open up this app for the first time in over a year and see the awful news that Prof Gemma Carey has died. Re-upping my review of her wonderful memoir from a few years ago, because it’s a book that deserves readers www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Shannon's review of No Matter Our Wreckage

I have a referral letter to a pain clinic! It genders me correctly the whole way through! … and now it needs to be either faxed or posted to the clinic for me to get an appointment. This is 100% never going to happen.

Today, I stand in solidarity with Palestinians as our government endorses Netanyahu's war crimes and annihilation of Palestinian civilians.

Palestinians are an occupied people trapped in an open-air prison with no food, water, electricity, fuel, medicine, or anywhere to go.

Australians will label Palestinian resistance “terrorism” and then vote no when Indigenous people here politely ask for a voice in parliament. Solidarity with liberation struggles everywhere. Justice and treaty now ✊🏻

This research methodology from BOSCAR frustratingly reduces coercive control to “incidents” once again. Police record assaults, but for people experiencing abuse, coercive control is all-pervasive and never goes away www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

So many people talk about the challenges of raising neurodivergent kids, and no shade, but there’s also some pretty big upsides. Like we’ve got away with packing our kid the exact same lunch every day for nearly a year, and she’s still totally happy with it.
