I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

5calls.org makes it easy. Called my reps, (R) got real people, asked if they had issued a statement on how they will uphold the constitution and the law, they had not. No surprise.
Asked for a response. It’s not enough but I feel just a bit empowered.

So appreciated this

“In the Time of Leaving is more than a page turner, however riveting. The poetic cadences that run throughout the book's interwoven narratives encourage readers to savor each word. Shana Ritter has elevated historical fiction to literary art.”

“an intimate portrayal of a family's response to the 1492 Edict of Expulsion and a universal story of love amidst exile and leave-taking, this novel brilliantly addresses what it means to find and sustain a sense of home---both geographical and spiritual.

The new cover image is crayon on board by Neus Sala I Caelles. I found it looking through a huge wonderful book at Lisa Comforty’s Singular Spaces: From the Eccentric to the Extraordinary in Spanish Art Environments, by her friend Jo Farb Hernandez.
Available on Amazon and at local bookstores.

Heather Cox Richardson:
For the rest of the world, South Koreans’ immediate and aggressive response to a man trying to take away their democratic rights is an inspiration… autocrats are brittle. It is democracy that is determined and resilient.
