Had a lovely time at the work party last night (sort of a project wrap/social thing for multiple productions) and got to hang out, catch up with, and sketch with so many good folks...

But this dude was the secret star of the evening. The guardian of the cheese crackers.

He's sitting on a little carrot pillar so that he's staring upward at all who consider taking his snacks... Of which there are none left on the square plate upon which he rests. The same lemon fish, staring at the camera. From this angle the little wedge mouth cut in the lemon looks extra fishy.

Damn, a re-run of Heavensward right now feels on the nose.

Rather than ruminating too hard on the implications of Ishgard as a whole, maybe I'll just gripe about early-game trial queue-times instead. Duty Support for Trials soon please god Yoshi-P, I'm begging.

This might be the first glam I've put together where multiple random people have just stopped and complimented my lad, so I think my MCH-main boy's gonna be wearing it a while. (Shadowbringers fashion remains evergreen)

So I painted him a baby duck and I hope he appreciates that I am not actually a painter and this sucker took eight hours

The duck is mostly realistic with a few faintly cartoony touches (I make children's cartoons for a living, that'll happen), and it's swimming on water predominantly coloured in greyscale, suggesting an overcast day, maybe? The duck itself is coloured mostly in shades of yellows and browns, probably a baby mallard, I dunno, it's a heinz-57 mishmash of about fifteen different 'baby duck' references I found on Google. It's swimming in profile, facing the right of the canvas, and kinda looks like it's smiling.

It's been one of those 'black out and when you come to you've made a new alt in FFXIV and have powered him through ARR in less than four days' weeks.

Just about ready for a nap and a juice box but I'll accept self-indulgent Viera boys in the meantime.

Got a new top in FFXIV, poked at the new dyes a little, conked out at my keyboard, and when I woke up three hours later I'd done this to my boy.

I've been getting a lot of hours at the pet shop since my anim contract wrapped last month, and you know, if I could survive on this wage I might even be fine just parking my butt here and doing art as a hobby again instead.
A huge stinkin' starfish in a salt tank, illuminated in blue, rummaging about for food. Fifteen red paradise gouramis, all exploring the front of the tank in hopes that it's feeding time. The background includes sand, blue backdrop, and green grass, making the red of the fish really stand out. Two Amazon milk frogs, just casually sticking to the foggy glass of their paludarium. You can see their white bellies, and their blue-green legs, and the underside of their little chins. A Pine Island chahoua gecko, sitting on a tree branch he almost perfectly blends in against- his brown, orange, and green patterning looks almost like like in or moss on wood, and if it wasn't for his big silver eye it's often difficult to spot him in his enclosure at all.

I was a little unsure about FFXIV's Hatchingtide gift this year. It's SO MUCH, and none of my WoLs would ever use it.

Except I DO have one WoL who would use it, and he might never use another umbrella again. Banana LOVES this thing.

But look, I was going to have pictures of the old Canadian puppets that shaped my youth and it was going to be epic.

A very similar scribbly badger, this time in near-profile, wearing glasses and with some scruffy hair. There are roughs in yellow under the black ink, showing that the artist can't make up their mind about things like hair, alas. The style is a little less overtly cartoony than the last one, but it's still not even remotely realistic.

An anthro... Badger, nominally, looking like he's been caught a little off-guard, probably because he's been doodled in black ballpoint over yellow ink in a semi-Sonic-the-Hedgehog style while the artist most certainly should have been working instead.

Working in animation I often don't have time or energy to doodle, and all my best work lives under an NDA.

But so help me, the pet shop job gave me a chalkboard and the boss suggested I doodle on it, and I can't say no to THAT.

That one person's horrying typo in that one Alliance raid had me extra rattled today, so I finally bit the bullet, spent the three billion stinky Canadian dollars to the American ten, and bought my FFXIV lad a rename token.
