Wow. Back in the early 1980s, even President Reagan was warning about this.

Of the 4 apps, I prefer eBird & Merlin, then Audubon.

The "sound" function is not always accurate though. For one thing, Mockingbirds, Brown Thrashers, and Blue Jays are excellent at mimicking other bird species' calls.

Merlin has these maps. I just checked to make sure if it was Merlin or eBird. They work together and also have an area to record all your sightings. Merlin also has the option to record the bird's sounds, calls & etc., & then it will list the possible bird by its call.

One of my Birding apps. I have 4 different Birding apps that I use regularly. eBird, Merlin, Audubon & Sibley. This one is on eBird/Merlin (same company). The two apps work hand-in-hand together.

Probably a Red-Tailed Hawk. I'm 99% sure that it is.

Sadly, this is not surprising at all, and it explains a lot. I had a gut feeling about this myself. Thank you, Maryann, for sharing this.

I wouldn't call it "Acceptance" but I'm exploring my options and considering several possibilities. 😉
