i would be happier if there were, like, save points before boss fights in infinite wealth, though...i do not think that is too much to ask...(gonna play the man who erased his name first obvs but i assume that won't have turn-based combat soooo)

given that eri was in my party from very early on in the game, it was lowkey funny that she was never in any of the cutscenes...like i realise WHY obviously but it was also fun to headcanon that the game just had a very strict compartmentalization of true party nakama versus, like, work friends

i did appreciate that in metaphor, once you got sufficiently stronger than random encounter enemies, you could just kill them in one or two hits without getting pulled into turn-based battles with them. in y7 i'm getting yoinked into battles with enemies that are >level 30 and it's a little tedious

if i had a dollar for every time i've played a jrpg where the main character gets forced to campaign for political office i'd have two dollars, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice (metaphor and y7)

the music when you fight majima and saejima also slaps BUT i had to go grind before i could beat them both, which makes sense narratively (gotta be prepared before you go toe-to-toe with legendary yakuza) but gameplay-wise was kind of tedious. slowed my game pace right down tbh

joon-gi and zhou don't really get a ton of integration into the group in the main story (at least not so far), but the little conversations you can overhear between them and the other party members around town can be really endearing

ok well i've equipped joon-gi with a stronger weapon--specifically a pair of iron gloves--and now his gun attacks do greater damage to enemies, provided said enemies are not too strong...good thing this game's whole story didn't kick off with a dude dying from a gunshot or anything...

still feel like guns should only be used in cutscenes because having them in combat takes away some of the narrative heft when someone inevitably gets shot on a rooftop or whatever

idk when i saw joon-gi had a GUN that he could FIRE AT ENEMIES i kind of thought he'd be able to, you know, kill those enemies...but that does not seem to be the case...
