The Shah Lab brings the #Worm25 after-party to a close with a "traditional" performance of Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. Shout out to the employees who were absolute champs in the face of getting swarmed by ~200 worm biologists on a Tuesday night

Here's an example of a ~2 fold embryo. The video and gif conversion is a bit wonky, this is either 30x or 60x sped up. Also it's kind of a pain to break them free like this, they're veeeery delicate mechanically

Kicking off #Worm25 with the parasitic nematode workshop organized by the great Astra Bryant and Elissa Hallem!

I don't display my diplomas in my office but I feel strongly compelled to frame and put up this old credential I found at my parents' place over winter break...

We used embGAN together with StarryNite to trace the early lineage of 10 N2 embryos. Interestingly, these embryos show ~2x as much inter-embryo variability in cell cycle timing as the transgenic strain JIM113 widely used in fluorescence-based lineage tracing experiments

Even better, embGAN works well on newly acquired images, even of different strains, and even with images acquired on a completely different microscope, objective, and camera than the training data

We trained embGAN on paired DIC and fluorescence images of C. elegans embryos. A single model works well across the full range of embryonic development, even when cell size changes drastically

Consider joining us for the 2nd iteration of our fantastic EMBO Practical Course on C. elegans research methods! A great crash course for trainees and faculty alike interested in expanding their model organism toolkit. Apply by March 17th to attend this June.
