Today ICE arrested New Yorkers in a shameful raid on Canal Street.
I joined my colleagues outside of Federal Plaza to call for Mayor Adams to STAND UP for New York immigrants and REMOVE ICE from NYC.
We are a sanctuary city and we will protect our neighbors. #ICEOutofNY

I’m proud to call Brad my mentor. We’ve been fighting for immigrant rights side by side for almost a decade. We got the Mayor to limit his cruel evictions of immigrant families from shelter. And we’re gonna keep fighting together for a city that lives up to its values.

The demands Brad and I made last week remain the same: we need more legal services money so that immigrants at 26 Federal Plaza have lawyers, the state needs to pass the NY for All act, and the City needs to pass my bill the NYC Trust Act to end illegal local collusion with ICE.

I’m relieved that our courageous Comptroller is released and safe. But I am deeply concerned about the wellbeing of our immigrant New Yorkers who need to come into this building to process their asylum claims.

The people at risk of ICE arrest, detention, and arrest are explicitly doing the right thing by showing up to their hearing. Trump’s fascist tactics were genuinely harrowing to see in person.
