Fair enough. While you can use them to buy max gear, you can't buy all of it, there's still some invaluable untradeables that you gotta go get. But I'm not going to defend bonds as not P2W, they're a necessary evil at best.

I'm not sure buying bonds for gold is really equivalent to a max level boost. Even the most expensive training methods still take time.

Both versions of Runescape have a similar system to what you're thinking. It's not an overall character level, but rather a set of 24+ skills that you level independently. You can choose to level any or all of them, since there's no classes.

I'm not sure, honestly. I checked osrs.world and the Poison Waste existed at least in part back in 2013, before both Zulrah and the Path of Glouphrie.

I dunno, the Jubbly Jive kinda revolves around that muck, I'd be surprised if they let us remove it with a quest.
I completely forgot that the Gnome questline went out that way tbh, I thought the polluted waters were due to Zulrah.
