Very similar over Orlestone Steve. My focus was watching Hobbys, but a constant broad stream of Swallows all heading Dungeness way. They were all high flying, so bins required - must have been thousands. 24 Siskins flying inland. A handful of Skylarks and M Pipits in the mix. 1 'Mega' Greenfinch!

It’s possibly the same bird, yesterday’s Osprey. seemed to be at a great height and looking at horizons further than the canal. It might have been just showing off though!

I look forward to seeing R Bartsia and R. Bee every summer now. Wasn't always the case, the plant seems to be spreading and the Bees following - that's the case around Shadoxh'st woods. I thought both were doomed this year (drought) but the rain received in July was enough to shoot-up the Bartsia.

That’s a very nice still life of the Greenshanks you’ve got there! You’ll be making your way to instagram next!

By contrast, Orlestone forest, E. Kent, 400 acres has become the last resort for declining Willow warblers. Adjacent woodlands, (inc my own) have received decades of coppicing to aid real growth in Nightingale numbers, but have had no effect in stopping Willow warbler decline.

I’ve been looking out for it! It could be that it’s just on the wing in the last few days.

Bottom left is I think Two banded Spearhorn (Chrysotoxum Bicinctum) which last year and from seemingly nowhere seemed to be very common across Orlestone. It's one of the boldest looking Hoverflies I've seen!

..and in amongst the micro's this nice bee - I think it's White jawed yellow face Bee Hylaeus confusus.

..this one looked interesting too Alan! Could be Epiblema cirsiana (Knapweed Bell)?
