I'd think they would have mentioned how bright it was if so. I would guess that the brightness is as good as the screens in current MicroOLED headsets, *at best*. And those have a duty cycle/persistence up to about 3x as long as the Valve headsets.
But I'm just speculating based on other products.

You want to ethnically cleanse Jews from the land that is currently the state of Israel? Is that your position?
November 17, 2025 at 12:35 PM
I'm a citizen of the US, which was built on stolen land. I also think the US should continue to exist.
How would you go about ending the existence of Israel? I'm putting you in charge. Tell me what you'd do.
November 17, 2025 at 10:19 AM
I believe that the state of Israel should continue to exist. I do not enjoy the spilling of blood.

While it's true that not all criticisms of Israel are antisemitism, replacing the word "Jews" with "Zionists" does not make you not antisemitic.

I had you on a separate politics feed, and didn't "follow" you because I wanted my primary feed to be free of political pundits, and I was confused as to why I couldn't reply to you. I thought you and a couple others were just automatically turning off replies after 5 min or so.

What does Asperger Syndrome have to do with it? Is saying "how dare you" a unique manifestation of AS?
(I was diagnosed with ADD about 30 years ago, so maybe you'll want to keep that in mind if you reply to me, though I think it's completely irrelevant. I also believe climate change is a big deal.)

"The company did however tell UploadVR that it's aiming to sell Steam Frame for less than the $1000 Index full-kit."
Valve Officially Announces Steam Frame, A "Streaming-First" Standalone VR Headset
Steam Frame has an included wireless adapter, and is launching "early 2026". Read the full specs, features, and details here.

I think the Steam Frame will be at least $800. They have said they expect it to be "cheaper than Index", which is (was?) $999
November 12, 2025 at 9:15 PM
Valve has already said to the press that they expect the Steam Frame to cost less than the Index (which is $999 for the complete kit).
It has screens similar in capabilities to the $500 Quest 3, not the $2050 (with controllers) Galaxy XR.

"Consumer goods and services"
I almost never buy software for personal use, except for games, which are also much cheaper than they were when I was a teenager in the 90's.
Even for hobbyist/freelance/semiprofessional use, there are a lot of free and cheap options that weren't available in the past.

The top selling game in its genre being profitable is not evidence that games in that genre aren't priced too cheaply. Some of my favorite games in the genre only sell 1% or 2% as many copies.

Ugh, why doesn't Apple have the equivalent for Vision Pro? They have very good 3D maps and 360/Look Around data (except the latter in the US).

Google Earth VR is one of my favorite VR apps.

Yeah, I don't know. My comment was more of a reply to the quoted post. It doesn't seem likely that the streaming services are taking a bigger portion of the profits than the retailers they are replacing. But I have no special insight.

Can you give a source on that "way more a %" claim? From my research on it, all the music services pay approximately 70% of their subscription revenue to the rights holders.
October 20, 2025 at 10:05 PM
Apple pays the same percentage as Spotify. The difference comes from things like Spotify having a larger percentage of their customer base in countries that pay a smaller subscription fee, and their average subscriber listening to more songs per month. And they pay less for ad-supported streams.
October 20, 2025 at 9:58 PM
The music subscription services pay about 70% of their subscription revenue to rights holders. If they could somehow pay 100%, would the statistic of "The average musician on Spotify makes $17.50 a month" look significantly better?
October 20, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Do you believe Apple is voluntarily paying rights holders more than Spotify is? More than they are required to by the rights holders?
October 20, 2025 at 9:44 PM
They all pay approximately 70% of their subscription revenue to the rights holders. Differences in per song revenue are dependent on cost of a sub in the country where the song is streamed, number of songs streamed by each subscriber, and whether there is an ad-supported free option.

Yes. That is actually amazing. I've used AI sparingly for some coding tasks, and it is amazing that I can describe something in plain English and it can give me a function that does what I asked for.

The chart may not be technically incorrect, but it is irrelevant to any claim that the current war is genocidal.
Posting that irrelevant chart as an argument against their claims is dishonest.
October 14, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Them: Israel committed genocide between Oct 2023 and Oct 2025
You: actually, Palestinian population grew between 1949 and 2023.
Me: that's not a refutation of their claim
You: how many Palestinians work in Israel?

Do you not see how that's a non-sequitor?
I'm not defending the claim of genocide.
October 14, 2025 at 1:02 AM
Correction: I did just blame Hamas for starting the current war.
October 14, 2025 at 12:48 AM
What does that have to do with my criticism of your post? I have not made any posts on Bluesky criticizing or praising Israel or Palestinians.
October 14, 2025 at 12:46 AM
The time period in your chart excludes the first year of Israel's existence, and the past 2 years (the time of the alleged genocide), two of the biggest periods of displacement and death.
It would be like having your Holocaust chart be between 1920 and early 1941 to claim Nazis didn't kill many Jews
