Yeah, pretty sure this is largely due to the instant gratification the internet has conditioned. I personally like a longer runway, its more rewarding when you get to the meat of the plot.

S'okay, If you go fast, people complain there too. So, honestly I'd rather complain of the slow burn rather than the too fast bit.

Yes! This! The sooner the con knows about it the sooner they can act! Con staff can’t be everywhere at all times and it really helps when people report!
