Obviously not everyone was like that mind you. But it was/is a very common sentiment on booktok. There was plenty of great people, but unfortunately many also not so great people.

A lot of people on booktok were super judgemental of anything outside their usual genre. It was especially present with people who enjoyed adult romance. Anything that didn't have s*x as the main plot they called bad and mocked those who enjoyed it.
