Just thinking about how wild it is that internet friends think I can just visit my sister who lives in a different city. “She’s in the same state, surely you can drive to see her”. Excuse me, but this is Texas. I can drive for 5 hours in any direction and still be in Texas.

So I saw my Spotify wrapped today and my son asked for his favorite song on the way to and from school so many times this year the Imperial March is my top song by a huge margin.

So… I went to see about getting a treadmill so I can start running again and lose some baby weight without having to find someone to take care of baby… but I exceed the weight limit. That’ll make a girl feel good. Maximum weight 265lbs…

If they give in without giving us the healthcare credits then everything we federal employees went through the last month without pay was for nothing. I’d rather hold out than give up. #shutdown

*sigh* just got the call that my department has been reclassified as essential. So back to work we go. Still a shutdown. Still stopped pay. At least the work’s getting done though.

Someone posted in the work chat “vacation over” and I thought the shutdown had ended… turns out he was talking about coming home from a trip to chores. Also it’s supposed to be payday.

So, work gave me a letter to give to the people I pay bills to asking them to wait until they get it together for me to pay my bills… we’ll see how well this works.

It just occurred to me that there are adults today who don’t remember 9/11 and the horror of those attacks. They think violence might have a place in political discourse, but forget that it will always escalate until it’s gone too far.

Had a talk with my 5yo about the law in our state requiring the 10 commandments in classrooms. It’s okay for people to not believe what we do and disagree with having them up. It’s wrong to treat people badly because they believe different things from you. Why does he get it better than my state?

The weirdness of we can’t have a cookout because I had to pay rent early because pay is going to be late because there’s a bs holiday on payday so we can’t buy food until Monday.

My husband is once again concerned what people will think of us if our son goes out in shorts because his knees and shins are COVERED in bruises. Our 4 year old, is a kid, he runs, crawls, jumps, and gets hurt. It’s 100F outside. People are smart enough to know those are activity bruises.

I watched The Day after Tomorrow with my husband today, and we get to the part where the President is being told he’s the last one there and needs to evacuate. My husband asks me why he’s still there, was he waiting for his wife? I inform him that’s it’s seen as a sign of good leadership…

Tell me why you can wait for 3 weeks for an ENT appointment, and the problem clears up the day before. You go anyway and they say it’s all fine. 2 days later it’s back and worse than ever. 3 week wait for another appointment. 🙄

I was upset this morning because I had a dream that I called my mom 5 times and she didn’t answer. She’s been dead 5 years, but she always answers in my dreams. I think I’m broken today.

I planned to have a baby based on my salary that’s now scheduled to take an $18,000/year drop just after my baby is born. It’s hard to plan for our lives when an administration can just decide that they need us to do our jobs but don’t want to pay us for it.

I know someone who had to get a 3rd roommate to help pay the bills, someone who isn’t sure they’ll be able to finish closing on a home, and personally I’m concerned about affording my kids.

People plan their lives around their pay, and to be told, after making plans, that your pay is going to be cut for an undefined amount of time wildly affects our lives.
