I write for Jacobin, arguing that the CPI-M's mishandling of the Muslim question reflects a deeper crisis within the party. Their electoral balancing of majority-minority calculus points to a drift into identity conflicts and a betrayal of their longstanding claim of undermining identity politics!!
Indian Communists’ Muslim Dilemma
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) used to have a mass base among West Bengal’s landless Muslim peasants. Today, their poor relations symbolize the party’s decline.

"And in this moment, today’s CPI(M), loaded with its “DENIALECTICAL-MATERIALISM,” stands closer to the very forces Lenin critiqued in Socialism and War."

My take on CPI-M's war-time betrayal!
CPI(M)’s War-Time Betrayal
Shadman Ali Khan upacks the 'betrayal' of revolutionary ideals in the CPI(M)'s stance on the Indo-Pak war.

Just launched The Dirigiste, a Substack on EU industrial policy.

The first post looks at Hungary’s lithium battery boom— as a case of industrial derisking backfiring in a semi-peripheral state. Orbán’s strategy is unraveling.

Apparently this article has riled up the CPIM's affiliates, they are straight up accusing the author of being a PFI and terrorist sympathizer on twitter. It proves the author's point pretty much. The insecurity is palpable lol.
The problem with the mainstream communist political movement in India has been that they pretty much disregard the division of labour along the caste and religious lines that exist in this country. This fact has driven them into existential crisis.

The US and its allies have been able to destroy many of their regional enemies, but they have not been able to build long-lasting arrangements of their own. Where American liberal imperialism has failed, Turkish-Islamic imperialism is even less likely to succeed
