Taking a cute from my brother @mikal-el.com , my last non of the year was The Message by Ta-nehisi Coates. Might need to start using Goodreads to track.

Next up: Medgar & Myrlie
Just finished reading Silent Agreements.

Last book of 2024.

I’ve finished 13 books tracked by Goodreads, but I’m certain some, especially audiobooks, are missing.

My father makes the best smoked turkey (argue with your mother). Today, I got as close to it as I could. Thank you, Dad, for giving me the tools to get close to you.

One of the great joys of parenthood is seeing your children push themselves to be better. Today is one of those days. Continue to pour into your children and you will see how amazing they can be.

I recently finished The Barn by Wright Thompson, which tells the story of the murder of Emmitt Till. A lot of learnings from the book but one that stood out was that the system that led to his murder was no accident. It was purposeful and meant to keep things a certain way. A recommended read.

I'll definitely check this out. Who else is planning to?
Tonight there will be a Blue Supermoon at 9:35 ET

The moon will appear about 8% larger than a normal full moon and 15% brighter than a normal full moon.

The next one won't be until January 2037. Keep any eye out tonight!

Weird how black women with Harvard degrees and twenty years of experience are called "DEI hires," but some random dude on Fox News is expertly qualified to run the Department of Whatever.

People call them identity politics. I call it real life. These issues are greater than red or blue. We're dealing with people's well-being. The gauntlet has been laid. Will we run away or fight for our rights? I'm choosing the latter. I'm engaged. I hope you are.

IP News: The USPTO has finalized a rule to adjust fees, which will take effect 1/19/2025. Initial takeaways: 1) increased fees for continuations and RCEs under certain circumstances;
2) Design patent fees are increasing; 3) cumulative IDS filings can become costly.
