My heuristics for whether to commit to an idea (influenced by colleagues/advisors)

- is this a genuinely hard problem that stumps people for a long time (years)
- do i have something unique to contribute (or, do I have a neat solution that is unique)
- will this build intuition for my next project

I have reached the stage of my career where I wake up with a very nice research idea and furiously journal it out just so it can get out of my brain & stop distracting me from my current projects

thinking about moving to this app. i kinda like that I don’t have many followers here and can post whatever I want without fear of weird DMs 🐶

My best business idea is to sell ikea plants in Patrica Green in Hayes Valley at 10x markup

In a similar vein, I don’t use ChatGPT to write code (with the exception of like figuring out the right regex or matplotlib syntax for charts) because thinking and touching the code is also part of my thought process in reasoning about the state of my app

my most successful use case for chatgpt is yaml formatting

2023 and I’m still googling if there’s a better web framework than Flask
