What an extraordinary piece. In the right hands, it can be incredible (I remember a Proms performance with Abbado - with Trinity boys, rather than Tiffin 😢). We did it with Gergiev, Maazel, Rozhdestvensky, Zander et al; James, my successor there, got Haitink, Salonen, Jurowski and Dudamel!
