The founders were British Lords before they revolted. They wanted independence for lords, not for us to be independent of lords.

For instance, the taxes they complained about were what they as lords paid the crown, not what the poor (us) paid the lords.

By delaying vote to Dec, they will have killed ACA subsidies this year. Before the vote happens, the next year's rates will be set. Decisions will be made on the numbers they see now, not hoping that the Democrats win a magical battle.
