Did you know Spain now has a Gender Parity Law? ✨ Adopted in 2024, it makes parity a rule, not a goal. Candidate lists must alternate women & men, and the Government itself must be at least 40% of each sex. A new era for equal representation. ⚖️ #Spain #GenderEquality

On 24 Oct 1975, around 90 % of Icelandic women walked off the job — and left their unpaid domestic work too. The strike helped lead to Iceland’s first gender-equality law in 1976 and inspired the election of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the world’s first democratically elected female president, in 1980.

Parliaments rarely conduct gender audits on their own. Chamber of Deputies 🇱🇺 is one of those champions.

🙏 to have met members of the working group tasked to do the job & to share @odihr.pl experience. Our friends from the @sverigesriksdag.bsky.social joined us to share their path.

The Assembly of Montenegro 🇲🇪 yesterday voted an update of electoral legislation. One of the highlights is the increased 4️⃣0️⃣ % gender quota, with a clear minimal rank order - one in every three candidates - throughout the electoral lists. Congratulations 🙌

For my contacts in Europe ❗️

I am looking for male politicians that are doing a good or even outstanding job in advancing gender equality including in politics.

🙏 Can you name one or multiple politicians and say why you consider them true allies or transformative actors?

The new German Bundestag 🇩🇪 will have only 32.4% of women MPs, a decline from 35.7% in the last convocation. Men’s over-representation is not the same in all fractions ⤵️.

The new Bundestag needs a renewed commitment to gender parity - 50/50. #EsIstZeit
