George Nicholas, Emeritus Distinguished Professor, recently returned from Hokkaido, northern Japan, where he was the invited commentator at the 4th International Indigenous Peoples Forum. This was held in the Ainu village of Nibutani, where he has been working the past 15 years.

SFU students Diego Barrios-Stewart, Citlalli Gonzalez, and Nick Parker as well as SFU alums Sarah Grenier and Madison Poole visiting the site of Stobi in North Macedonia with Dr. Sabrina Higgins. They were working this summer on excavations at Golemo Gradiste, a late antique site in North Macedonia.

SFU Archaeology's Dr. Laurie Nixon-Darcus is the recipient of a King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Canadian Cancer Society. She has spent many summers volunteering her time at Camp Goodtimes, helping kids with cancer just be kids.
