burnt this candle for too long ignore how massive the flame is but I think noisetier might be my favourite diptyque candle scent

was waiting for my mom at massimo dutti and was pleasantly surprised by these. I didn’t get the fruity opening in blond vanilla but I did get a lot of orris and vanilla grounded by patchouli. the drydown’s a lot woodier than I thought based on the notes and I actually really really liked this one

tried le labo’s new eucalyptus 20 and it’s spicier than I thought. it starts off with lots of spices and amber then it mallows out to this very earthy, almost medicinal wood. it has the classic le labo’s hinoki bath line dryness mixed with some incense on drydown

went to an orchestra to see vivaldi’s four seasons and mozart’s symphony 25 and at the end they also played lascia chio pianga as a lil surprise gift it was such a perfect evening

revisiting grand soir cause the weather was perfect for it and I still love it. grand soir was what spiraled me into fragrances she’s so special to me. do I still think it’s the best amber? no, anubis dethroned her but she’s still gorgeous and a very good option regardless

and that’s all! copped rampai noir and received a free discovery set and I got to choose a 10ml sample of fuse’s failed creations which are basically scents that they forgot the formula of lmao it was fun picking one out. haven’t tried kura kura (tortoise) yet but will do. also bought majapahit 🤌🏻🤌🏻

rampai noir starts with strong pandan then it mellows out as jasmine, musk, and vanilla comes through. like the description, there’s only hints of animalic notes. the oud note actually gives a stunning woody base
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
I’ve posted this on fragcord as my sotd but my favourite is definitely rampai noir. bunga rampai is a mix of flowers used in traditional malay ceremonies like weddings and there’s different blends according to your scent preferences but they’ll always incorporate jasmine and pandan leaves

lastly is fuse kl! I’ve known this house for some time but was never really interested until they released their black label series last november. the cool thing about fuse kl is that they incorporate malaysian oud in all of their scents. their oud doesn’t smell overly animalic it’s very wearable
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
moving on, I actually got to smell ouru’s papa’s bread which I’ve been wanting to smell since their release. ouru is not a malaysian brand tho they’re indonesian. I’ve also posted this one on fragcord and it smells like a realistic toasted buttered bread. very delicious
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
also spotted a wild sombre at their booth. they also had a display of seminalis and inexcusable evil which was wild lmao
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
moving on to the next house, megfragrances. this is actually a dupe house so I wasn’t interested in them until they announced the release of two fragrances that are their original creation. figured since I was already there, why not just give it a sniff
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
medin fragrances also added a few scents to their kuala lumpur series lineup. as soon as I saw the notes for brickfields, I knew I had to smell it. you do get a lot of frangipani in the opening but the drydown reminds me of kilian’s imperial tea
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
anyway, back to the actual perfume, inderaloka smells like a medley of florals. first it starts off with bunga kesidang (rice/pandan) then you get roses and musk. there isn’t much development in the scent but it’s definitely a very traditional malay scent which fits with the whole heritage concept
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
inderaloka introduced me to bunga kesidang (bread flower). I had no idea what kesidang was until that day and it actually smells like an ambiguous mix of rice and pandan. another name for this flower is actually bunga kerak nasi (rice crust flower) which to me is quite fitting
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
majapahit starts off with strong deer musk which might be off putting for some but it doesn’t last very long it’ll fade away into this gorgeous woody jasmine with hints of roses and tea. you still get the muskiness but it’s blended really well with other notes
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
next is medin fragrances. I’ve heard of this brand for a really long time but idk why I never looked into them. they came out with their warisan series (heritage series) and these 2 caught my eye the most. I find that the notes listed to be very true to the scent
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
starting off with the house that I was most excited for, spirituscents!

I’ve actually reviewed 4/6 scents on fragcord but here’s a quick rundown! borneo sunset is definitely my favourite out of all of them followed by sunduvan
February 11, 2025 at 10:35 AM
this oil is gorgeous why is there no perfume version of this diptyque hello?? I get a lot of jasmine and ylang ylang and the scent is not super strong so it’s perfect for layering
February 5, 2025 at 8:58 AM
sample ran out few weeks ago but I kept thinking about it and I also had a cash voucher so ofc I had to get it
February 5, 2025 at 8:58 AM
list has changed since this post but these are what’s coming in the next few days omg 🥳

my favourite one is ylang ylang nosy be from perris monte carlo. it opens a little citrusy but then it morphs into this beautiful creamy ylang ylang. very sweet very tropical and just soo intoxicating

my friend wanted to get rid of this but I thought it’d be nice as a perfume tray and it ended up so perfect omg

got sick of my samples box and didn’t know what to replace them with so I just lined them up in a drawer and I’m lowkey digging it but it’s a lil impractical for when I buy more samples but for now I can’t be bothered so this will do 💆🏻‍♀️
December 19, 2024 at 8:47 AM
here’s a few fragrances that I’m dying to sample but can’t since I’m on a (self-imposed) buying ban this month 😭😭
