I saw the same. It might not be because of the content of the email but rather the fact that it is from a Substack email address. If people are flagging other Substack emails in great numbers, Gmail will put the warning.

This is a valid point. Including this context would not have diminished the contrast in priorities she was trying to highlight, but does make it appear even more partisan.

40% of GDP is in AI, yet the hardware, software, and infrastructure systems that support them are incredibly sophisticated. Given immigration is already down, and education is under attack. I don't think welding and HVAC are going to be applicable to developing and maintaining these complex systems.

NATO and Ukraine likely aren't sharing anything with Trump, given they know he is totally untrustworthy. I wonder if he says things like "we will give Ukraine super duper boom-boom missiles" just to get Putin's attention. The minute Trump said it, Putin was calling, which Trump seems to crave.

There is probably no greater hypocrisy than how Tea Party Republicans made national debt the center of their cause, yet here we are with them in power and trillions being added to the debt, not to weather some incredible crisis, but so they can have it out to loyalists.

Absolutely captivating episode. I think the fact that the grandfather of AI doesn't clearly know how things are going to play out in the field of AI can help us remember that the worst we can think is possible, but not inevitable. We can, with determination and coalitions, influence the outcome.

I am constantly in awe how a country that are near fanatical about movies/books with the core theme of the forces of good coming together to defeat an evil empire that has undermined freedom (e.g. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings) is having such trouble seeing what is in front of them 🤷

It certainly feels that way. Though the framers were very concerned about an executive with too much power, which is why the president's power was much more limited 200 years ago than it is now. Madison likely could not imagine a SCOTUS making such rulings.

Ok, I had read it that he based this idea on existing orgs like ACLU and some others. I think the idea has great merit, so I hope the ACLU does act on it.

It is a good idea, but why not leverage an existing organization like ACLU? Typical non profit issue where everyone wants to create 5 organizations to solve the same problems each with their own little tweak and of course administrative overhead.
