Since there's no audience for me as a male vtuber, I've cut my losses to pivot to being 'faceless'

I apologize to the artists who made the PNG I'll barely use from now on, who made the redesign that may never be put into use, & who made the Live2D I may never get rigged

Its simple fact that the audience for male vtubers is small.

Especially small when using a male avatar.
Or refusing to cater to BFE & fujoshi viewers.
Or being strictly SFW & not wanting to behave suggestively nor associate with those who do & who use copious profanity.

On top of having less time than in the preceding 3 years, I was also trying to be a vtuber due to the fact that having a webcam on exacerbates my Tourette Syndrome & makes it harder to relax & be myself

No matter how much anyone downplays, the male vtuber debuff IS real

For about 6 months, I plateaued & growth stagnated

And for me, a lack of progression or results (intrisic & extrinsic) makes my motivation drop off hard, regardless of whether its a profession or hobby

Which is bad for fields where growth depends on audience & algorithm

I've tried for 4 years, as of this July, & my growth has halted.

The community of regulars I used to have has shrunk drastically & most people I'm still in touch with me are other creators who are busy.
Heck, I don't even have time to support their streams much anymore.

I can relate

I have Tourette Syndrome & streaming as a vtuber gives me a social space to be myself without needing to suppress my tics, because the way it engages my brain naturally reduces my tics

Streaming & zen activities like driving, lawn mowing, video editing, etc. relax & recharge my brain

I'm someone who, due to not using profanity or innuendo in my normal daily life & refuses to be fake in my content, is basically planted firmly in that category

In my 3 years of experience, it can feel like that limits my growth & appeal with the small audience who would even watch a male vtuber...

Yet for me, it's been more of a hole

I've been a vtuber longer than Niji EN Luxiem & all of Holostars EN, but I've plateaued on two different platforms after about a year & a half each time

On YT, it seems I've gained the most subs when fixated on 1 long game, but I NEED variety for my own sanity

That's much issue too

I have Tourette Syndrome and, aside from my fixations that can change at random, I NEED variety just for my own sanity

If I limit myself to one content niche, I'll quickly start to hate content creation.
But, while I'm small, if I do variety content, I'm told I can't grow...

Myself, @saiprime.bsky.social , and @harriercitadel.bsky.social all don't swear nor behave lewdly ever in our content.

Actually, I don't think any of us even use profanity in our normal daily lives. 😆

Though there are no small amount in the 17-19 range. So I'm getting close.
Give me a few more years and it'll be believable. Lol

Though, my general demeanor and mentality are already there, judging from a lot of the stuff I've seen over the last 3 years. 😅

Not to mention it poisons the well on those words as search terms, making people like me less discoverable to our footing audience.

A direct negative impact that lewd vtubers have, hurting the growth of those of us who aren't lewd.

Being my brother and raised in the same environment, he shares many of the same values that make him also entirely non-lewd and 0% prone to using profanity in his content.

I would qualify to be on such a list.

As would my brother @saiprime.bsky.social , as we were both raised in an environment which resulted in profanity and lewdness not even being part of our normal daily behavior.

@harriercitadel.bsky.social is also a fitting addition.

Those who are truly non-lewd AND stick with it long-term are rare.

I'm a loyal married man whose values are that such behavior is to be ONLY with my wife & NOT made public.

I choose to associate only with those who are similar or at least respect that, whicis also rare.
But I've found a few.

I definitely meet these conditions.

I never use profanity nor innuendo myself (neither in my content or daily life).

Even when streaming an M-rated game (like Warframe) I always use any language or gore toggles

I'm also apolitical, which I believe is an important part of being All Ages suitable

I believe I qualify.
