Rhetorical question: what is the opposite of DEI for these people? How do they ‘know’ that hiring and promotions aren’t merit based? Not enough white men working there? Can’t use racial or sexual slights?

You do understand that local funding is from property taxes, and rural areas don’t have the corporate tax base that cities do. And that is the main reason rural schools are poorly funded.

I am circling back to the comment about “the hate and fury from ardent Republicans” and ask why you are punishing ardent Democrats?

I see what you mean. I guess big city folks with their big cities problems don’t get that they need rural folks votes to elect dems at the national level.

For what it is worth, I’m a well educated, well paid person who is living in, and observing the challenges of, a rural area. We have low funding. We have bigots.
Keep in mind that you elite city folk with your big problems NEED rural folks to vote dem up and down the ballot for Dems to win nat’l.

Do you some how think I’m a Trump supporter? So, outside of CA, rural areas can go pleasure themselves. You got yours, and your elite city problems are way worse than our problems in rural areas. Rural folk are leaving Dems BECAUSE of that elitist attitude. Believe it or not, we are all in it.

Huh. And rural areas - the places that grow your food, and where you city folk go to recreate only have little problems? YOU are a large part of the reason that rural area are going MAGA. YOU don’t believe our challenges (lack of accessible healthcare, higher prices, etc) are worthy of effort.

Does it occur to you that those of us fighting for fair representation *need* support from those of you in *safely* blue places?

Wow. I just love that assumption that all of rural America *wants* MAGA. Fortunately I live in a blue rural county in a purple state (WI), but even here we have to fight to have fair representation.

Woah dude! Some of us rural dems moved here from big dem cities. We are working *hard* to make sure *everyone* is represented and welcome. And let me tell you, that is a tough row to hoe.
