Sorry, but can you explain how the act of observation causes harm? Materially, what is the difference in outcome between viewing something with and without sexual intent, if the viewer does not act differently in one case?

consider a fantasy scenario can be such that the child is not suffering

I concur—I think really the only necessary argument is that people should be able to do what they wish if they aren't harming others

I am a human being btw

Additionally: pedophilia is a paraphilia. Modern psychology largely does not recognize it as a psychological disorder. in fact, it is treated exactly the same way as any other sexual orientation. the psychiatric approach to pedophilia is only to address external consequences of it

You can read my replies tab to understand why that is not an option. Therapists are mandatory reporters and this power has been abused in many cases to punish people who would not have commit any crimes
December 5, 2025 at 1:40 AM
it is also okay to express them

I'm just trying to advocate for the end of this puritanical content tyranny committed by all the major platforms, in part because as we are seeing now, they have their foot in the door to censor more acceptable (and especially queer) topics.
December 5, 2025 at 1:36 AM
but yes, it makes sense why you would not care to research any of this. it wouldn't do you any favors socially.
December 5, 2025 at 1:36 AM
What do you mean by normalizing? I want to keep it to myself, preferably, but all the platforms are banning it. I'm not advocating that everyone be issued mandatory copies of loli material, just that ppl who digest victimless fetish pornography not be singled out, because they will come for you too

The assumption that someone is *going to be dangerous* is dangerous itself, b/c it can easily cause one to miss the people out there who statistically are *actually dangerous*. not adults with normal adult relationships and no kids like me, but family, or friends of—uncles, siblings, fathers
December 5, 2025 at 1:33 AM
I'm also curious, is it your opinion that we *should* imprison people who do not and will not commit any crime?
December 5, 2025 at 1:29 AM
I'm sorry, but before we continue, do you have evidence of this causative relationship between art and violence, or is it an assumption you are making?
December 5, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Anyway to the point at hand: there is no getting rid of people like me. most of us keep to ourselves. that I know of—and I've looked—, there is no evidence for a causative relationship between the consumption of art and the real abuse of children. maybe you can find some to change my mind though?

Proper treatment entails numerous other things though, like dealing with negative self-image, dealing with the effects of social stigma and isolation, and, for the few that truly need it, techniques for resisting the urge to commit indecent acts.
December 5, 2025 at 1:23 AM
I just saw this reply, sorry. You may be displeased to hear that psychiatric treatment of pedophilia does not involve curing it. It is a largely immutable fact, similar to sexual orientation.
December 5, 2025 at 1:23 AM
can you explain to me why you believe these two things are mutually exclusive
December 5, 2025 at 1:14 AM
because the social stigma is so high that mandatory reporting ends up being weaponised against people who want help. if you tell your therapist that you struggle with these feelings, this can (and often will) lead to criminal punishment
December 5, 2025 at 1:12 AM
it's curious to note (and you can find numerous studies on this) that most child abusers are not pedophiles. abuse is a function of power, not attraction. you plausibly know people who are attracted to minors, who will never commit acts of abuse, yet can never even seek help e.g. therapy w/o risk
December 5, 2025 at 1:10 AM
to assert that those who are unfortunate enough to have such an inappropriate paraphilia will inevitably offend is counterproductive to them living normal & healthy lives. not to say that being outcast directly leads to offending, only that it causes harm and does little in the way of harm reduction
December 5, 2025 at 1:10 AM
my beliefs are far from casual... I really care about the wellbeing of children and I certainly don't have any desire to commit rape. paraphilias are psychiatrically known to be, like sexual orientations, immutable. there is no fixing the attraction, only dealing with it.
December 5, 2025 at 1:10 AM
I don't think these things are equivalent, but I'd like to hear how you think they are
December 5, 2025 at 12:27 AM
where does the "yet" come from?
December 5, 2025 at 12:26 AM
yeah it is definitely weird as hell, but that's life. do you think I chose my attraction?
