Last night I got a panicked phone call from a mum whose kid is in my son’s class. School musical starts this week & dress rehearsal was yesterday. The school had not told her that the dress needed back access for the microphone. Guess what I am doing today? Emergency zipper install!

Finished dart seam was sewn just outside of the white thread. Dart tip was hand knotted. The white thread was then removed and the dart was steamed and pressed on a pressing ham. Love how perfectly the seam is sitting 🙂 4/4

Holding both ends of the white thread, I gently pupped the ladder stitch so the edges came together. The white thread gives you a tacked stitching line on the wrong side of the fabric and holds the fabric in place. 3/4

Next I sewed a ladder stitch with contrasting thread from the dart top to the end of then dart legs. 2/4

Tried a new way of sewing bust darts today. The fabric is a diabolical (but lovely) silk blend that is sliding all over the place.
I started with cutting 1 half of the dart on the pattern, folding it back and marking it on the fabric right side with tailors chalk. 🧵1/4

Labour of love! The one cake that I decorate each year is for my son’s birthday. This year’s effort as they are going kayaking for his birthday.

When it comes to quilting, it massively frustrates me when my points do not match up. Last year, I discovered #foundationpaperpeicing and it was like the heavens opened & the angels sang with the perfection of this method. Loved it so much I have started a new quilt for our bedroom.

Yep! I use the Sewline fabric glue pen as it does not gum up your needle. Perfect for fiddle bits and silky fabrics that slide all over the place.
