But, much to their credit, plumbers aren’t generally victims of a self-image which rests precariously on being smarter than everyone else. (I’d also say from my experience that plumbers are often more intellectually acute than consultants.)

And since what we’ve effectively seen in London and many other areas is an experiment to see just how little people are able to live on once they’ve paid their rent, any govt serious about growth has to achieve significant reductions in rents.
