I genuinely do not get why people stay there, more and more so as time passes. when you look at the comments it’s like stormfront in there. I can’t spend more than a minute on there without my blood pressure spiking. if the site shut down tomorrow and lost everything it would be a kinder fate tbh

it’s a vicious cycle that is probably deliberate to some degree. dudes feel insecure, watch videos for advice, advice repels women, dudes feel worse about themselves, so on and so on

on further reflection its a little weird to me that a lot of the comments in here are heavily contingent on simplifying + conflating different definitions of “liberal”; it’d be missing the forest for the trees to nitpick that if it wasnt for some of the resulting conclusions verging on ahistorical

yeah there’s a ton of smarmy replies but like… they very much did the thing oliveira is talking about. they took over and ruined millions upon millions of lives. they rightfully got their asses kicked but only after other people decided to intervene. other ppl arent going to save us this time around

it was more the work of the men that the committees sent over to do a hell of a lot of violence that did the trick, and even then the job wasn’t quite done by the time the allies reoriented their priorities eastward

A guy I knew who was a pretty talented modeler had a lot of rancid beliefs that he defended with a facade of “rationalism”. He called himself a centrist but conveniently had a ton of beliefs that happened to line up with standard RW talking points.

it’s too bad a lot of the available FOSS tools out there kinda suck. blender got its act together before the pandemic but a lot of other adobe “competitors” are just straight up unusable and their devs are weird hidebound nerds who refuse to acknowledge things like “UX improvements” or ease of use”

The matcap(?) rendering style of all the stuff you show off was a giveaway to me, but I am still incredibly impressed. I tried to mess with a CAD program for a project blender didn’t have the accuracy for and I bounced right off it.
