I know people mean well and I appreciate their excitement but I personally like experiencing things without any mods first so I know what the mods do and impact and why they're "needed"

It makes it very difficult to untangle "mod experience" from the game if you never play it without mods.

Absolum by @dotemu.bsky.social - a beat-em up that honestly feels like you're playing a fighting game character. Each of the 4 characters feels very unique with their own specialities, the boss fights are great and the upgrades give you some good variety too

BALL x PIT by @devolverdigital.com @kennysun.com - Pachinko meets Vampire Survivors meets... city builder? Survive against waves of enemies by upgrading various balls and powerups. In between games you build out a city to collect resources/powerups/characters

Decktamer by @assembleteam.bsky.social - Blending deckbuilding with monster taming in a unique game that has you tame enemy monsters to add to your deck. If one of your monsters dies you lose it forever so you're constantly adding and swapping cards in and out

Godbreakers by @thunderfulgames.bsky.social @godbreakers.bsky.social - Fast paced action roguelite that lets you steal abilities from enemies. Has some really good boss fights with interesting mechanics that made me feel like I was playing an MMO dungeon.

House of Necrosis by @warkus.bsky.social - A mystery dungeon style game that blends the dungeon crawling genre with the vibe of Resident Evil. Has some dope loot and a great gameplay loop that constantly rewards you.

Slots & Daggers by @futurefriendsgames.com - Roguelite where you expand your slot machine with new weapons, bonuses and passive abilities. Beat increasingly difficult enemies and get some crazy fun combos going.

Necesse by @necessegame.bsky.social - a survival crafting game in the style of Core Keeper and Terraria. Find new materials to craft better gear and beat the next tier of bosses. Felt great to play and coop was smooth!

Burger Bots Inc by Normogames - coop game where you run a burger restaurant and try to fill customers' orders. Watch out for monsters because this definitely has a Lethal Company-esque vibe.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition by Survios - Port of the VR game released last year. Great story that fits right into the Alien universe though the gameplay is a bit clunky and you can definitely feel the "made for VR" parts
