Great paper led by Sungchul Park showing that despite Medicare Advantage plans being able to offer food benefits and financial protections, MA beneficiaries do no better, and often worse, on measures of food insecurity and financial burdens #healthpolicy

Thought this was a funny encapsulation of a similar idea (not my meme)

Some pre-orders have already gone out but the official publication day for #EqualCare is here! A key reason i wrote the book is to have conversations about health equity and social policy with more people, so I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Great description of the US social policy regime. Even tho it’s referencing an article from nearly 40 years ago, still highly relevant. I think US population health would be a lot better if so many of our policies weren’t like this.

New from me in Health Affairs Insider banging on again about how we think badly about anti-poverty policy in the US and how the record breaking 2022 poverty rise reflects that

Man, sad seeing that kids got 238% lazier from 2021 to 2022

(I assume that’s the reason for the 238% increase in child poverty).

Fresh Health Affairs Insider newsletter!

Baby bonds are a popular idea for helping children born into poverty but I have questions 🤔. A child allowance to get 💰 to kids while they’re kids, rather than if they make it 18, seems better to me.
