I think Mortal Kombat might be one of the best video game movies ever. It captures the vibe of those first few games quite well. And speaking of cheese, the games have always had a healthy dose of goofball cheesiness bursting out between the blood and guts. It’s all part of that unique MK flavor.

This is a great list! Love Dragonslayer! And Lair is an incredible score, despite (as I understand it) Debney’s hesitancy to do a video game score. Whenever Debney does a swashbuckling/fantasy/adventure score, he always knocks it out of the park (see also Cutthroat Island); I wish he’d do more.

Carpenter is an absolutely solid pick. His run of movies from ‘76 to ‘88 is practically perfect. And there’s some real gems in his post-80’s output; I love ‘In the Mouth of Madness.’ Not to mention all the great music, too

Lisbon is wonderful. Used to live just outside of it in Agualva years ago. One of the things I loved were all of the parks. You’d be walking down a street and then suddenly find yourself in a little green refuge.
