I do think that raytracing can produce better results in many scenarios, but I think some people overblow how big of an impact it makes. A lot of the time I don't think it's worth the cost, and I definitely don't think mandatory raytracing should be a standard.

there's GI solutions that aren't screen space or baked. Baked is great for static games, but it wouldn't work for satisfactory, I know that. Something like Godot's SDFGI is a better comparison, realtime without raytracing. (image from the first PR that added sdfgi)

that looks like a comparison between global illumination and no global illumination... that's not exactly a fair comparison, of course GI is better than no GI. RTGI needs to be compared to other, cheaper ways of doing GI.
