Our latest blog explores some late-Victorian accounts of boating, part of the @cambridgeuni.bsky.social Cruising Club archives. Some of the accounts are beautifully illuminated, like medieval manuscripts! specialcollections-blog.lib.cam.ac.uk?p=29965

So this is really cool: a stamp impression from the library of the Ilkhanid vizier Rashid al-Din (d. 1318). It reads “pious endowment [waqf] of the Rashidiyya library,” & it may have been inspired by Chinese prints/stamps. Stamped waqf notices are totally unheard of for this time!

I’m currently reading Camera Lucida by Roland Barthes for the first time. It’s very good and very emotionally moving considering it’s his last book in the wake of his mother’s death. You can almost witness the grief seeping between the lines of theory #currentlyreading #booksky #reads

While I was exploring the fully digitized Dijon BM Ms 130, I found this doggo either napping in or biting a Q on fol. 107r.

Whole MS here: patrimoine.bm-dijon.fr/pleade/img-v...

Archiving is a selfless act, often carried out by people who care too much, for people who care too little. I know this is a basic take but you have to do something because it makes you happy, not because you expect anything in return. Cool people do cool things because it's fun
