I understand there's pain everywhere. I was speaking from my experience, not trying to ignore anyone else's. It sounds like you're going through a lot, and I wish you gentleness, even if you can’t extend it to others right now.

Update on the situation for anyone reading: he was detained for a day until my aunt paid a fine and brought him to stay with her for the time being. We are working on getting him some more documentation and trying again another way later. I hope he can hold on until then and that things work out…

I often think about the things that could have been, but unfortunately that doesn’t change anything and just feels bad to think about. I’ve been trying to focus on what actions I can take next to try to move things in a better direction
