Whadda these people got against Howard Hawks?

The Thing -- no. (I guess I can at least see that argument though.)

Scarface? Hell no. (Also it is a remake in name only, kinda stupid to even include it.)

It's also a Watergate cover-up movie. That was more obvious back in the 70s.

City Lights (assuming that counts)

Other good choices: (going beyond the assignment here)

Sunrise

Pandora's Box

The Freshman

any of several Keatons (maybe The General, or Sherlock Jr)

a Dreyer -- Vampyr or The Passion of Joan of Arc

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

...then there's Fritz Lang...

While there are reasons to be annoyed with Adobe, the "AI" in these processes stands for "Adobe Illustrator" and are background processes totally unrelated to kind of AI you are referring to. (And are not new.) They do background file saving/exporting to try to keep the main program responsive.

I see and care deeply about your posts. Your cat is cute, too bad about the stinking.

A "theory of everything" that is normally talked about (and where that phrase comes from I believe) doesn't refer to *EVERYTHING*, but specifically particle physics, i.e. reconciling quantum mechanics with gravity, etc etc. Nobody ever claimed there will be a theory of *EVERYTHING*. Makes no sense.

They were even more popular in the 70s & 80s. They were dying in the 90s.

There are so many that never leave though...you need an allocation system of different categories.

My favorites in different genres:

Rear Window (thriller/suspense)
The Shop Around the Corner (romcom)
Anatomy of a Murder (courtroom drama)
Destry Rides Again (comedy/western)
Winchester '73 (and the rest of the Anthony Mann cycle -- pure westerns)
No Highway In the Sky (what genre is this?)

Gloria Grahame in any movie gets you 3 stars right there...add in Fritz Lang and a lethal dose of Lee Marvin...boring?! The Big Heat is one of those films that makes you jump out of your chair but you can't because you're gripping it so hard.
