I like to get my ducks in a row every New Year’s…

They’re here in the Thompson-Nicola too; I quite like the thieving rascals. I hadn’t realized that they’re largely absent from the coast.

Oh nooooo! (I’m going to try again…)

Welcome to my back yard! Just returned from the glow-stick & torchlight parades, and the fireworks. Might see you on the slopes or the snowshoe trails tomorrow…

You’re right. I feel like an idiot. That’ll teach me to comment when I’m still half asleep.

Les choux-fleurs = cabbage flowers. You can see why. But no matter how flowery the name, still don’t like them… not even roasted; I’ve tried!

Lovely… like stained glass window

This entire thread: I feel seen. (although hopefully not so clearly that you can see mine…)

Those are the best kinds of xmas trees IMO- the ones where there’s a story attached to each ornament.

That place! (which I learned of from you) Was there a month ago visiting from the interior. Took tremendous self discipline to not go overboard. A better name for it IMO would be Aladdin's Cave; the presentation is astonishing.

An upside to those temperatures with dogs: When living in Carmacks, it took very little time to train my puppy to pee on command outside. She had no interest in staying outside longer than needed.

“Eclectic”… What my mother used to call “Early Canadian cast-off” which is what my house is filled with…
December 6, 2025 at 3:02 AM
oh ffs… like I know we’re “where the rivers meet” and all, but they flow through a “semi-arid desert” and there’s not enough H2O for data centres and (gestures helplessly) supplying agriculture, residential needs, forest fire fighting…

Sounds like too much work. How about in a raw salad with a soy-lemon dressing? Or thrown into miso just before serving?
December 4, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Only if it’s been cooked in the sauce.
December 4, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Think I’d prefer it raw in salad with feta in the salad!
December 4, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Spinach. Yuck. Although to be fair, when I was 10, it was served up as a slimy, boiled, green mess. Now I eat it almost every day in a salad; still don’t like it cooked unless in a soup or pasta sauce.

That was last night (Mon); had family delayed over an hour as a result
