It's comforting to think of people who commit evil being super smart and able to cover their deeds up with sophisticated deception. It's more jarring to realise they're actually fucking stupid because that means it was possible to catch them sooner.

These people don't have to really use their brains for anything, they have so much wealth that everything is basically handed to them. They don't have to be funny or interesting to be invited to elite parties, they just have to have money. They end up extremely dull and stupid.

This is why I don't believe most conspiracy theories. These people are constantly revealed to be bumbling shitheads. The Evil Genius is an almost entirely fictional invention. Evil people tend to be very stupid and protected by money rather than intellect.
