It is Monday night. I *finally* gave my finished chapter 7 to the group. I think this might have been the longest time it has taken me to write a single chapter.

Writing update—it’s been two? three? months! Somewhere in between then and now I finished Ch6. And have been slowly, painstaking writing Ch7.
Seriously life, stop getting in the way. Ch7 and 8 are the ones I’ve been dying to write! Big reveals and an upping of stakes!

Made a very loose draft of Chapter 5 yesterday. My MC is much more clever than I and has a very dry sense of humor I’ve recently learned.

Think I’ve got hero out on his adventure properly—the world is there but I’m nervous about the emotionality across 1-4.
Also surprised by how much I like the secondary character. He’ll prob worm his way into more pages.

Went to a shrine today and saw some interesting offerings.
The middle is coffee and the right one is a vegetable juice drink. The left, I believe, is cooking oil.

Made some big picture tweaks based on beta reader feedback. Left notes on smaller things.
MC is evolving and his personality is deepening. Might have to go back and adjust for emotionality in the future.

Whew! Being in that hot seat is tough. I’m always so squirmy.
But even when they’re ripping the MS apart, I take it all with gratitude.
Having a safe space is so important for creative discussion. Can’t advocate enough for beta readers.

Chapter 2 was short. I suspect I’ll eventually combine 1 and 2 in the future. 🧐 I’ll see what my wonderful beta readers think. 🥲

By some miracle I completed chapter two in record time.
My MC is completely opposite of my last. He tells me everything like an open book. I had to pry every thought and emotion from my previous one.
Surprisingly, having all the answers at once has its own challenges too.

All in all it took a little over a week to do one chapter.
3200 words.
That’s incredibly slow ^^!
But I’m fairly confident on a line level and hope (knock on wood) it won’t require so much clean up on a second pass.

Writing update: got the first half of chapter one pretty solid. The second half is kinda a mess.
Learning plenty about the MC though. My last one was not very open and really shared. This is a nice change. Thank you Oren.
